Hardcore civil and mechanical engineers need not Iookdown on their qualifications any more. The trend of securing a job in the software or government sectors need not be their final option. Neilsoft is a firm which is doing just that and it has positioned itself as an 'engineering technology' company and not a software firm.

Neilsoft HR head Prashanth Chunduri told this paper the company had built its reputation on engineering services.
"Our employees have excellent acad-emic and industrial backgrounds in areas such as mechanical, civil, and computer science. We cater to clients in Europe, Asia Pacific and the USA. Our global delivery model provides world class engineering services and solutions to our clients," he said.

Prashanth adds that the company worked on CAD/CAM/CAE platforms for global clients.
"Our off-shore engineering services in the mechanical engineering segment lowers the cost-structure and completion time for product engineering to our clients. We grew steadily in 12 years and now have offices in Detroit, Michigan and Cambridge. In India we have offices in Pune and a sales office in Bangalore. But, we will also expand in Bangalore very soon," he said.

Prashanth said the company was doing good work in the automotive and ship designing industry.
"Constructing structures is what we specialise in. Basically we have applications that will reduce the development time by at least 40 to 60 hours of the original time stipulated. The work here is challenging and we take in freshers. About 35 per cent of our yearly intake are freshers. Those graduates interested in pursuing an automotive and marine engineering career will fit right in to our company."

The company also has experience in developing solutions for engineering reviews/defect tracking.
"We also have services in software. Neilsoft has developed solutions catering to niche areas in manufacturing and construction-engineering segments," he added.

The company has 420 people world wide and plans to grow to 600 by the end of the year.
Prashanth says project specific procedures are being created to ensure compliance with customer's needs and requirements.

"Neilsoft understands and respects the intellectual property protection requirements of customers. As a company policy, all employees sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) with Neilsoft before employment and also project/customer specific NDAs," he said..
