HUBLI: BV Bhoomaraddi (BVB) College of Engineering and Technology, Hubli, is one among the three educational institutions in the country that have been selected by National Association for Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM) for its pilot project in enhancing the employability of engineering graduates.

Named as “Headstart”, the NASSCOM initiative, assisted by Neilsoft, an engineering and technology services company, will be launched in the college in October.

Addressing presspersons here on Tuesday, college principal Ashok Shettar and Head of Corporate Communications of Neilsoft Sudakshina Sinha Banerjee gave details on the programme which will be implemented in the College of Engineering, Pune, and M.S. University, Baroda, along with the BVB College in Hubli.

Dr. Shettar said that irrespective of the specialised branch of engineering education, nearly 60 per cent of students were seeking employment in the information technology and biotechnology sectors.

He said that there was growing concern over the availability of graduates for the engineering services industries.

Ms. Sudakshina said the company would spend Rs. 75 lakh for the programme over a period of three years.

Aravind Galagali, member of a steering committee, made a presentation on the programme, its objectives, the industry requirements and the scope and related issues.
